The wonderful and historically extraordinary tidal island, Lindisfarne, off Northumberland’s coast, becomes inaccessible when the tide washes over its causeway. When it’s safe to cross the causeway, you can visit and see charming cafes, the ancient priory, and a castle. As long ago as 635AD Saint Aidan came from Iona and chose to found this monastery on the island of Lindisfarne. From here the Christian message spread throughout the world. And then there is the wildlife nearby and in the sea… Wow!
